When Jim Tressel came to Ohio State University in 2001 after OSU fired John Cooper he preached about restoring tradition to the storied program that kept Andy Katzenmoyer on the payroll enrolled. After winning a National Championship in 2002, Tressel was practically untouchable at Ohio State, even when running back Maurice Clarett started talking about being hooked up with perks in Columbus. Then Troy Smith took $500 from a booster. Terrelle Pryor and four other Buckeyes are suspended for part of next season as well after selling jerseys, trophies, and championship rings to a local tattoo parlor. In fact, Ohio State has had plenty of infractions since Tressel came aboard and the only real difference is that unlike Cooper, Tressel beats Michigan.

Now Tressel is out 250 large and riding the pine for two games because he didn’t snitch when Buckeyes decided to game the system that doesn’t even let them get jobs.

Look the other way while I copy your article, ESPN:

“I think that your No. 1 critic is yourself,” he said, tears welling in his eyes at a Tuesday night news conference. “You spend time thinking about how you can do things better. I don’t think less of myself at this moment. I felt at the time as if I was doing the right thing for the safety of the young people and the overall situation.”

I am tough on myself too. So tough, in fact, that I think I will take the rest of the day off from work and just hit the local strip bar. Sometimes I just like to treat myself.
