Simmons is one of, if not the most popular columnist writing for ESPN, yet you refer to him as a guy with a “Page 2 gig.” I regularly listen to his podcast and he seems to always come off as a very likable, down to earth guy with no sense of narcissism or desire to name-drop. He was telling a genuinely interesting/compelling story about Gus Johnson and Isiah Thomas that was not at all self-aggrandizing. And honestly I’m not sure why you would question the guy as an NBA fan considering he has LA Clippers season tickets purely to watch other teams. The guy is criticized (by more reputable people than you) for his obsession with the NBA, and now you’re calling him out because he claims to be too much of a fan? I could go on addressing everything you’ve said, but this article is over a month old and you probably won’t bother to pay attention.
